Current Fire Conditions on Log Hill Mesa:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HIGH<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is an explanation of the Fire Danger Color Code system:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Low (Green)<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fires are unlikely to start under these weather and fuel conditions without intense heat sources. Any fires that start will spread slowly, remain at a low intensity, and be reasonably easy control and extinguish<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moderate (Blue)<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some wildfires may ignite at a moderate size and intensity. Controlling wildfires at this level is not difficult. Light to moderate mop up will be enough to manage these fires. Controlled burns<\/a> can be performed under these conditions but should be executed cautiously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

High (Yellow)<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weather and fuel conditions mean that wildfires are likely. Wildfires in areas with heavy, continuous fuel<\/a>, such as mature grassland, fields, and forest litter, will be hard to control if there are high winds. Directly attacking the fire may be difficult. Careful mop up is essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very High (Orange)<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fires will start easily, and suppression efforts may not be able to keep up with the spread. Flames will be large, intense, and hard to control. Containment, suppression, and mop up will take a lot of work. Outdoor burns are not recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extreme (Red)<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wildfires can start and spread quickly under these conditions. Any fire has the potential to become huge and uncontrollable. Fire behavior<\/a> is likely to be extreme and erratic. Hence, there should not be any outdoor burns if fire danger in the area is extreme<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colorado law now requires that all controlled burns be reported prior to burning.<\/strong> Please contact the WESTCO Dispatch Center at (970) 249-9110 and inform the Dispatch Center of any controlled burns or fires you plan to have on your property.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Log Hill Mesa Renews Firewise Status for 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are proud to announce that the Firewise Communities status for Log Hill Mesa has been renewed for 2024. Residents invested or performed over $99,000 in fire mitigation activities for the year, well outpacing the required $25,000 worth of investment. Thanks to everyone who works to make our community a safer place to live. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n
